WORKSHOP LEADERS

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

All About You! – Ms. Lina (CAC Student)

This activity is based on programming your mind, understanding, and taking control of the subconscious mind. We girls go through many things in our teenage years while we are still developing ourselves, and many emotions are involved. However, many of those times, these emotions are pushed down and attempted to be forgotten about. These emotions will eventually come back and will be worse and harder to handle. Therefore this activity is meant to help you dig deep into your thoughts and emotions to grasp what’s holding you back and learn how to control and deal with it. By the end of this activity, the girls will have learned that reprogramming their brain conditions them for success!

Alleviating Anxiety – Ms. Audrey and Ms. Raelin (CAC Students)

This workshop is directed to people who struggle with anxiety or just want ways to manage stress. Audrey and Raelin will help students understand what causes anxiety and actions students can take to reduce it. Through interactive activities, students will explore the various emotions accompanying anxiety and become empowered to help manage it!

Body Image: Intertwining Self Care and Self Esteem – Ms. Nour (CAC Student)

Between school, physical activity, and social media, girls face a never-ending list of pressures that can lead to negative insecurities. Join CAC senior Nour and learn more about the factors in our lives that affect our confidence and what we can do to build up our body confidence! During this workshop, students will tip on balancing their mental and physical help and the importance of prioritizing one’s self.

Building a Business – Ms. Serene (CAC Student)

In this workshop, students will explore marketing strategies, the importance of attention to detail, user communication, and the basics of investing in oneself. Led by senior Serene, participants in this workshop will learn more about her journey in starting her own business and be inspired to use their personal passions to create their own business adventures!

Exploring a Plant-Based Diet – Victoria Diachkova (CAC Parent & Sincerely V Owner)

More and more people want to learn about vegan/plant-based lifestyles. Whether you’re driven by compassion towards animals, climate change and environmental issues, personal health, or pure curiosity, this workshop is to help you understand the force behind this recent trend, the reasons why so many people are switching to this lifestyle, and where to start if you are considering to give it a try yourself. How to do it right, what foods to eat and what to avoid, tips, insights, and everything else you need to know to make vegan/plant-based easy, accessible, and fun.

Girls of Maadi – girlsofmaadi

girlssofmaadi is a safe haven. It is an online community for girls to share everyday experiences without judgment. It’s a quiet revolution, yet a loud evolution of and for a better tomorrow. We discuss critical and relevant issues, where all ideas and opinions are accepted without judgment and are continuously validated. We do this while teaching young girls how to use social media as a tool to fight for change, rather than allowing it to further oppress us into a patriarchal system. Overall, it is a fun get-together for girls of all ages, where we will embrace one another wholly and honestly.

Just Do It! – Ms. Tia (CAC Student)

Establishing a routine and schedule is very helpful when maintaining a work/life balance. Through a presentation and interactive activities, students will reflect on their own plans and habits to improve their lives. Join CAC Freshman Tia Fikry as she shares organization, study, and general skills to help improve people’s lives. Tia would like to encourage 8th-grade students to sign up to help prepare them for the transition to high school.

Power Thinking – Ms. Bean & Ms. Spencer (CAC School Counselors)

Power Thinking is positive self-talk that encourages and promotes a healthy thought process. Power thinking helps girls articulate their valuable qualities and helps them foster a continual feeling of self-confidence. Come join us to learn about power thinking!!!

Vision Board Party – Ms. Kamara Coaxum (CAC Faculty Member)

Do you like being creative? Do you enjoy daydreaming about your future? Do you wonder what your life will be like in 5 or 10 years? If you answered yes to ANY of these questions, then come join us and create your very own vision board. Vision boards are a fun and creative way to think about goals and your future!

Why Girls are “Bad” at Sports – Ms. Asha (CAC Student)

Despite the eye-catching name, this workshop will discuss the systemic underlining reasoning on why women are considered inferior to men in athletics. Topics such as lack of access, lack of confidence, and decreased quality of experience will be considered in this workshop. The main issue highlighted is the social stigma around women in sports and how it bleeds over into girls’ self-confidence, not only in athletics but other aspects of life. Gender bias, cultural discrimination, and preconceived sexist ideas will be examined in relation to women’s empowerment in the field/court. Although awareness and recognition are essential with topics such as gender bias, discussing solutions will be a prime part of the workshop. Increasing self-confidence as women athletes and learning how to deal with situations where women are put down will be voiced.

Women and Life in Art – Ms. Luna (CAC Student)

Art can be a powerful medium in helping us express our inner thoughts. During this workshop, students will use art to help express insecurities, fears, and anxieties. CAC student Luna creates a safe space for students to voice their problems, insecurities, and difficulties through art.
