Dear School Leaders and Community Members,
Adolescence is a critical time period for developing healthy habits, especially for girls. Despite overwhelming research highlighting the importance of physical activity, there remains a significant decline in activity for adolescent girls.
On February 15, 2020, Cairo American College will host its fifth health and fitness conference with the theme Girls Get Strong: It’s Within You! Through workshops and fitness activities, we hope to inspire girls to recognize the strength within themselves.
Details of the event are as follows:
Date: February 15, 2020
Location: Cairo American College (Maadi, Egypt)
Grade Level: 5th-12th Grade
Number of Students: 200-250
HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?

Community volunteers provide critical support throughout the conference. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in supporting Girls Get Strong to get involved. Tasks for volunteers include: setting up, registration, assisting with activity transitions, and assisting with serving lunch.

Workshop leaders plan and coordinate a 45 minute workshop that target student’s social, emotional, or physical well-being. All workshops should empower girls with the knowledge, confidence, strength, inspiration, and/or leadership skills to be healthy. Workshops will have a maximum of 20 girls. The theme of this year’s conference is Girls Get Strong: It’s Within You!

Fitness leaders lead a 30 minute group exercise activity. Exercise activities will have a maximum of 20 students, depending on the facility, equipment, and activity. Previous offered activities included: aerobics, agility ladder training, barre, body attack, body pump, bollywood, circuit training, cheer aerobics, crossfit, kettlebell training, meditation, TRX, yoga, and zumba.

As a non-profit organization Girls Get Strong relies on its community members to support its mission of empowering girls to be physically, socially, and emotionally healthy. Financial assistance is needed to support the conference as well as provide attendees with conference memorabilia and a healthy lunch. Click here to learn more about event sponsorship.
